    Abstract:

Agrobacterium-mediated genetic transformation is one of the most important technologies for plant molecular breeding. However, the Agrobacterium-mediated genetic transformation system is plant genotype-dependent,and there are still a lot of recalcitrant plant species hard to be transformed.Taking advantage of plant genes that involved in the transformation steps might be a new pathway for improving transformation efficiency.VIP1,a bZIP transcription factor that is involved in the plant immunity responses.Recent studies demonstrated that Agrobacterium is able to activate and use VIP1 for transformation.Optimalizing the tissue culture condition to increase the expression of VIP1 can improve the transformation efficiency.Understanding the plant-Agrobacterium biological interaction processes could help developing new strategies for improving the transformation efficiency of the recalcitrant plant species.
