Abstract:Abstract:'Zaohong' navel orange[Citrus sinensis (L.)Osbeck + C. unshiu Marc.] is a graft chimaera from'Robertson' navel orange[C. sinensis (L.)Osbeck] and 'Guoqing 1'satsuma mandarin [C. unshiu Marc.]. The 'Zaohong' navel orange has the peel of a navel orange and the flesh of a tangerine. It has a good flavor that has made it a favorite in recent years. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of different rootstocks on tree growth and fruit quality of 'Zaohong' navel orange, and provide a scientific basis for the selection of optimal rootstock combinations for the growers of 'Zaohong' navel orange species. This experiment utilized 'Zaohong' navel orange as the material and compared the effects of three different rootstock combinations on the growth of the oranges and the quality of the fruit. The rootstock combinations included (C. reticulata Blanco cv. Red tangerine)(Rt),(Poncirus trifoliata Raf.)(Pt) , and (Pt+Rt)(originally Poncirus trifoliata then Red tangerine was used to inarch Poncirus trifoliata). The results showed that there were differences in Photosynthesis and its products, tree growth, fruit yield and quality of 'Zaohong' navel orange grafted on different rootstocks. In terms of soluble sugar content in leaves, intercellular CO2 concentration and stomatal conductivity, Pt > Pt+Rt > Rt; in terms of tree growth and fruit yield:plant height, crown?diameter, shoot length, leaf size and fruit yield showed Rt> Pt+Rt> Rt; In terms of fruit quality, Pt rootstocks were higher than the other combinations in fruit soluble solids content and total acid content, and there was no significant difference in the solids-acid ratio of the different rootstocks. In terms of fruit weight, Rt rootstocks and Pt+Rt rootstocks were larger than Pt, and Pt rootstocks had unstable fruit sizes among different years. On the whole, Red tangerine rootstock has stronger tree strength, higher fruit yield and single fruit weight,so it has better economic benefits and is suitable for promotion and use in the Three Gorges Reservoir area.
