The damage control model was used to calculate the excessive pesticide application by rice farmers and the propensity score matching method was used to investigate the influence of market entity on the pesticide application by rice farmers based on the investigation data of five provinces.The results showed that rice farmers put considerably excessive pesticide into use.Other influencing factors being kept under control,the probability of excessive pesticide application will be significantly increased if rice farmers choose non-professional outsourcing.Dealing with “quality” buyers can help to curb excessive pesticide use by rice farmers.At present,the cooperative absorbed less small-scale farmers and made little difference in rice farmers’excessive usage of pesticide.Therefore,further efforts should be made to strengthen the supervision of the market and improve the service function of the market,so as to ensure the quality and safety of agricultural products.
