Abstract:Under the circumstance of “land abandonment” and “contract violation and abandonment”,how to increase farmers’ confidence in expanding the scale of farmland has become a realistic and important issue. Based on the data of 2,340 households in 12 provinces (districts),the Probit model,Cloglog model,IV-Probit model and propensity score matching method were employed to analyze the impact of agricultural production training on farmers’ willingness to expand the scale of farmland. The results show that:(1) Agricultural production training can significantly arouse farmers’ willingness to expand the scale of agricultural land, which is tenable under a series of robustness tests. (2) Heterogeneity analysis shows that the training has a greater impact on large-scale farmers and well-educated farmers; for high-income farmers and farmers in the central and northeastern regions, the training coefficient is significantly positive. (3) Extensibility analysis reveals that training can significantly increase the scale of farmer’s planned operations. Therefore, agricultural production training should be emphasized in expanding the scale of farmland, and the training should take the differences among farmers and regions into account.
