Abstract:Based on the survey data of Rural-urban Migrant Household in 2013 from the Chinese Household Income Project (CHIP),this article investigates the effects of education on migrant workers’ employment quality,and compares the generation differences of the effects.The results show that:(1) A higher educational level results in a higher employment quality for migrant workers,which means higher salary,shorter working hours,more job stability and better welfare; (2) vocational education can significantly improve migrant workers’ employment quality,but this depends on which type of vocational education the migrant workers take; (3) compared with the elder generation of migrant workers,the new generation benefit more from education in terms of employment quality; (4) the variables here,mainly referred as individual social characteristics,such as gender,marital status,health,work experience,working distance and methods to acquire jobs,also make a difference to the employment quality,and the impacts differ from generation to generation.Finally,this article proposes that the government should highlight the positive effects of education on migrant workers’ employment.
