Abstract:Currently there are two kinds of economic forms in China, traditional agricultural society and modern industrial society. The characteristics of rural society still exist in rural areas. There are controversies about the influence of social networks on farmers’ decision-making. Based on the perspective of technology network embedding and the Mvprobit method, this paper attempts to examine whether over-embedding results in "technology lock-in" with the investigation of 960 apple-farm households in Shandong,Shanxi and Gansu provinces. And then,we further test the impact of the relationship network on farmers’ behavior of technology transfer. The results show that the technology network embedding has indeed led to the "technology lock-in" problem in apple-farm households’ production. The higher the embedded intensity of apple growers’ technology networks, the lower the conversion probability of apple growers’ technology. Homogeneity relationship network has no significant impact, however, the heterogeneity relationship network has a significant positive impact on the conversion of apple-farm households, which demonstrates that the access to high-quality network resources can be improved apple-farm households’ technology conversion probability.
