Abstract:Operating performance of new agricultural operation entities is related to its sustainable development.Employing the methods of stochastic frontier analysis and statistical analysis, this paper chooses fixed observation points to collect data from the new agricultural operation entities in rural areas to analyse the operating performance of different types of operators and their differences. The results show that the operating performance of new agricultural operation entities is satisfying compared to small farmers, but their overall performance yearns for improvement; they are confronted with the lack of funds and talents, which proves to be a hard nut for the running of agricultural cooperatives; the performance of family farm ranks the first among the three types of agricultural operation entities, closely followed by agricultural leading enterprises and agricultural cooperatives. Finally, this paper proposes relevant countermeasures for the development of new agricultural operation entities in China, including improving the mechanism of separating rural land ownership rights, contract rights and management rights, realising scale production, financing and talent supply, and increasing policy support.
