Abstract:Since the founding of New China, with the complex changes of modernity, the value of Hukou has also undergone some corresponding changes between urban and rural areas. Before the reform and opening up,under the planned economic system, there were obvious hierarchical differences between urban and rural households, which shows a situation in which large cities, small and medium-sized cities, established towns and rural areas gradually declined. Since the reform and opening up,with the establishment and improvement of market economy system, the value of rural Hukou has continued to rise. Ultimately, under the social experience of rural Hukou closures, urbanization of rural lifestyle and legalization of rural-urban migration, rural migrant workers built a rational knowledge that rural Hukou is more valuable than small and medium-sized urban Hukou. Therefore, new urbanization should respect the survival of rational demands of migrant workers, establish the development goals of resident population urbanization as the center, appropriately reduce the importance of household registration rate and establish the Hukou transfer system that can be retreated between urban and rural areas.
