Abstract:Based on the perspective of function of “productionlivingecology” and taking the urban agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River as the research object, this paper built up an evaluation index system for land intensive use. Adopting the global principal component analysis (GPCA) to technically measure the land intensive use degree of urban agglomerations in each city, this paper made a comparative study on the spatial differences between the whole and the part by using ESDAGIS. The results are demonstrated as follows. There is an overall upward trend for the land intensive use level in researched areas. And the global Moran’s I index is negative, which indicates there is no obvious characteristic related to horizontal space in the land intensive use in researched areas. In terms of the space correlation pattern,HH area and LL area on the spatial agglomeration pattern could be easily discerned. Therefore, the comprehensive land intensive use is proposed as the aim in researched areas. It is also suggested to fully utilize the spatial dependence and spillover effect of regional land use so as to address the issue of polarization in the land intensive use.
