Taking 102 counties (cities,districts) of Hubei province for example,this paper uses food security model to define the compensation relations among counties. Then this paper discusses the regularities of distribution of cultivated land protection partition under the framework of main function zones through comparatively analyzing the compensation division results and the main function zones in Hubei province. The calculation results show that cultivated land resources in Hubei province were at a loss as a whole,and the loss was 312.34 thousand hectares,which could not meet their own needs. Interprovincial difference of cultivated land resources was large,among the 18 surplus areas,Xiangyang district had the maximum surplus which was about 108.901 thousand hectares,Baokang had the minimal surplus which was 59.726 hectares. While among the 37 loss areas,Wuchang district had the biggest loss of 149.448 thousand hectares,Chibi city had the least loss of 293.287 hectares. Combined with the main function zones of Hubei province,this paper analyses the distribution regularity of cultivated land protection compensation and finds that repayment areas of economic compensation for cultivated land protection mainly distributed in the main producing areas of agricultural products,payment areas mainly distributed in the key development areas,counties (cities,districts) belonging to key ecological function areas were almost the payment areas and balance areas.
