Abstract:Based on the data envelopment analysis,this paper analyzes the urbanization efficiency of nine cities in Wuhan urban agglomeration from 2005 to 2009.Through the Malmquist efficiency index and their decomposition,this paper finds out that urbanization efficiency of all cities in Wuhan urban agglomeration is showing the tendency of going up first then going down and the inefficiency of technological advance is the chief reason in decreasing the urbanization efficiency.Then,this paper uses DEA model to analyze the urbanization benefit.The result shows that more cities are in a state of constant return to scale in the Wuhan urban agglomeration,except for a few cities which are in increasing returns to scale.Therefore,this paper puts forward several suggestions on how to push forward the construction of Wuhan urban agglomeration,including continuously following the path of resource-conserving and environmenta-friendly urbanization development and optimizing the industrial structure and adhering to the road of scientific and technological development.
