The implementation of short-term practical teaching is an innovative action to carry out the English BA syllabus and an extension of the classroom teaching.Taking short-term practical teaching in English Education Specialty of School of Foreign Languages of Handan College for example,this paper points out that the short-term practical teaching should have the features of innovative practice,cooperating practice,academic practice and instructive practice.Based on the problems in short-term practical teaching,this paper puts forward some constructive suggestions on how to strengthen short-term practical teaching from the following five aspects which include the improvement of the teacher’s micro-teaching skills,the transformation of the teacher’s role,the formulation of diversified grade evaluation system,the organization of the teaching studies and the establishment of the scientific management of curriculum. 
