The paper offers a brief survey of "genre analysis" as an approach to discourse analysis, including its notion, correlative theories and basic patterns. What's more, it employs authentic discourses to testify whether there are rich implications of genre analysis to teaching development and proves that it is fruitful in improving English teaching.
